Battle for Oakhurst

With their new task given to them by the kobold queen, the party returned to Oakhurst after being away for a long while. On the way back, the team reflected on what they learned and discussed amongst themselves what they believed the the misty creature was. They theorized that it was some sort of manifestation of the vampire, Gulthias, was was staked in the Sunless Citadel and gave rise to the nightmarish Twig Blights.

They didn't discuss for much longer, though, because they soon returned to the welcoming gates of Oakhurst, where they were happily met with many familiar faces. Exausted from their journeys in the Underdark and the Citadel, they quickly reported on what they discovered and went to the inn to rest.

Their rest was cut short, however, when the kobold queen arrived in the quiet village and revealed that the misty creature had assaulted the Citadel from below with an army of Twig Blights, and it was on its way to Oakhurst. Unnerved by this news, the party, led by the veteran soldier Glacian, quickly identified those within the village who were able to fight and defend and formed squads that would push back against the army of blights.

They chose individuals to fight together based on their unique capabilities and how well they complimented. The players did some simple math to determine each squad's stats and decided where they would be placed to maximize their defensive capabilities and defeat the blights with as few casualties as possible.

Glacian soon learned that a small troop of Twig Blights had slipped past them and got into the village. Glacian directed some of his allied squads to return to the village to defend it. And defend it they did, though not without some casualties on the side of the town guard. Among those casualties were a number of guards, goblins, and kobolds, including one of the goblins that Myev had befriended.

It was also at this point that the party learned from the two remaining goblins that Grenl had taken the other goblins at some point after the battle and fled, effectively forsaking her promise to Myev and the kobold queen.

Finally, after a hard fought night of battles, everyone successfully repelled the misty creature and the blights from Oakhurst. They took some time to slow down a bit and chat with one another as they rested for the battles to come. The town constable, Felosial, sent some of her scouts out to trail the army and see where they had regrouped.
